Every session starts with new keys. Direct messages move to a fresh key every 20 messages or 5 minutes, so one leaked key can’t unlock a whole conversation.
Calls and files go directly between browsers and are encrypted in transit. On strict networks a relay carries them, still unable to read them.
There is no history or file storage. Private groups vanish when the last person leaves, and messages can burn away on a timer you choose.
Compare a safety number or scan a QR code in person to prove no one is in the middle. If a member’s identity key changes, you are warned.
Join as an anonymous guest, lock the app with a passcode, hide it behind a quotes page, turn off read receipts, or erase everything with a panic key.
