Laser Safety — Non-negotiable

  • OD rating must match wavelength. Ray5 20W is 450nm blue — need OD5+ at 450nm
  • Never engrave PVC or vinyl — produces HCl gas (toxic)
  • Never run without exhaust or filtration
  • Never leave unattended
  • Keep fire extinguisher within reach
  • Wood and leather fires are the most common laser accident

CNC Router Safety

  • No gloves at the spindle — gloves catch and pull into the bit
  • Let spindle fully stop before reaching in
  • Secure workpiece with clamps, not hands
  • Stand to the side — bits break and eject forward
