Pros
- True fired ceramic parts after sintering
- High heat resistance post-fire (1500°C service)
- Food safe after glazing
- Can be glazed and decorated like thrown ceramics
- Unique aesthetic impossible with other AM methods
- High strength after firing
Cons
- 15-20% linear shrinkage during firing — must be modeled oversized
- Requires kiln capable of 1250°C+
- Brittle green state (pre-fire)
- Very expensive
- Firing requires controlled debind and sinter cycle
- Limited to white/off-white color pre-glaze
Best For
- Ceramic jewelry|Custom functional tableware (after food-safe glaze)|Kiln-fired art pieces|High-temp industrial ceramics|Dental zirconia prototypes|Filtration media
Avoid For
- Dimensional precision (shrinkage)|Impact-prone parts|Flexible requirements|Anyone without kiln access
Storage
Store in dark container. Ceramic particles settle — stir vigorously before every print session. Do not shake (introduces bubbles). Strain before use if stored >2 weeks.
