Pros
- Outstanding toughness and impact resistance
- Natural lubricity — self-lubricating
- Excellent fatigue resistance
- Good chemical resistance
- High abrasion resistance
- Flexible yet strong
Cons
- Extremely hygroscopic — absorbs moisture rapidly
- Difficult to bond (poor layer adhesion if wet)
- Significant warping
- Requires enclosure
- Must be bone-dry before printing
- Shrinks noticeably on cooling
Best For
- Gears|Hinges|Clips and snaps|Structural mechanical parts|Bushings|Living hinges
Avoid For
- Decorative parts|Thin-wall prints|Any application near strong acids
Storage
Critical: store in sealed container with large desiccant. Dry at 70-80°C for 8-12h before printing. Printing wet Nylon causes bubbles, weak prints, and stringing.
