Optimizing Laser Cutting of Anodized Aluminum with CO2
Marking vs. Engraving
A CO2 laser cannot cut aluminum, but it can create permanent, bright white marks on anodized aluminum by bleaching the dye within the anodized layer without damaging the underlying metal.
Configuration
1. Use high-speed engraving settings. (e.g., 300-500 mm/s) 2. Set power relatively low (10-20% on a 60W CO2). Excessive power will scorch the anodizing. 3. Ensure focal distance is precise. The result should be a clean, crisp, frost-white marking, perfect for industrial serialized labels on 1C3D equipment.
