- Perfectly uniform density — the most consistent laser results

Cons
- Dust and fumes are toxic — HEPA filtration and ventilation mandatory
- Absorbs moisture and swells — keep dry
- Heavy compared to solid wood
- Not suitable for finished natural-wood look
- Glue content causes heavier smoke than solid wood

Storage
Keep dry — MDF swells when wet and will not recover. Store flat off concrete floors.
Laser Compatibility
MDF cuts very cleanly but produces toxic formaldehyde fumes — must have strong exhaust ventilation. CO2: cut 3mm at 200mm/s 60W, engrave 500mm/s 30%. Diode: cut 3mm 2-3 passes 80-100%. Edges are clean but black.
