Pros
  • Tougher and less brittle than PLA
  • Better layer adhesion
  • Improved impact resistance
  • Still easy to print
  • No enclosure needed
Cons
  • Slightly worse overhangs than PLA
  • More stringing than PLA
  • Heat resistance still limited (~60-65°C)
  • More expensive than standard PLA
Best For
  • Functional prototypes
  • light mechanical parts
  • phone cases
  • brackets
  • living hinge designs
Avoid For
  • High-temperature environments
  • heavy structural loads
  • outdoor long-term use
Storage
Same as PLA — store with desiccant. Slightly more moisture tolerant than PLA.
Laser Compatibility
LASER INTERACTION Safety: SAFE — PLA+ additives are generally inert, similar to standard PLA. CO2 engrave: 300-400mm/s @ 15-20% Diode 20W engrave: 3000mm/min @ 35-40% Result: Similar to PLA. Some PLA+ blends have impact modifiers that slightly change char color. Fumes: Mostly lactic acid. Some additives vary by brand — ventilate as standard. Tips: Test small area first as PLA+ formulations vary significantly by manufacturer.
