Buying notes: xTool F1

Who it suits

People making small items such as coasters, tags, business cards and tumblers who want a compact enclosed machine with both a diode and an infrared laser. It isn't suited to large or high-volume jobs; those users should look at the P2 or D1 Pro.

Known issues and quirks

Smoke leaves through a rear hose, so without the purifier it has to run out a window or door. It won't power on without the ID key, which can arrive pressed in, and the red emergency stop must also be released. Reviewers felt overwhelmed about where to start.

Common upgrades and accessories

A smoke purifier with 3-layer filtration, a slide extension to enlarge the working area, and the RA2 rotary, which needs an F1-specific cord.

Tips

Use the material presets in Creative Space and put text and shapes on separate layers so each gets its own process. Check the framing lines before starting a job.
