iButton and Dallas Key Reading with Flipper Zero iButtons (Dallas/Maxim 1-Wire touch keys) are common in apartment buildings, parking garages, and older access control systems. Flipper can read and emulate many of them. What Are iButtons? Small metal pill-shaped contacts you touch to a reader. Common for: Apartment entry fobs Elevator access Older parking garages Some fuel management systems Hardware Reading uses Flipper's bottom 1-Wire connector pins with a simple adapter: Or use the official iButton probe accessory (small metal contact on a wire) Community 3D printed holders are available on Printables Reading an iButton 1. iButton → Read 2. Touch your iButton to the reader contact 3. Flipper reads and displays the key type and data 4. Save with a name Supported Types Emulating 1. Open saved iButton 2. Emulate — Flipper presents itself as the iButton 3. Touch Flipper's contact to the reader Works for: Simple fixed-ID keys (most apartment fobs) Does not work for: Encrypted/challenge-response keys (newer systems) Legal Note Only emulate keys you own or have permission to use. In many jurisdictions, possessing duplicates of access keys you don't own is illegal. DIY Reader Probe You can wire a small metal contact to the GPIO pins for a better physical interface.
