Nylon 6/6 Sheet (Machined)
Generic / House Brand
⬡ Chemical Resistant
Overview
Polyamide 6/6 engineering plastic block/rod for precision machining. Self-lubricating with low friction coefficient — gears, bearings, and wear pads machined from Nylon 6/6 outperform most other plastics in sliding applications. CRITICAL: Store dry — moisture absorption causes 2% dimensional growth.

Pros
- Excellent wear and abrasion resistance
- Low coefficient of friction — self-lubricating
- High tensile strength (80 MPa)
- Good fatigue resistance
- Dampens vibration and noise
- Can be machined to tight tolerances (when pre-dried)
- Good chemical resistance to oils, fuels, and bases
Cons
- CRITICAL: Absorbs 2-3% moisture causing dimensional growth — parts must be machined and measured in dry state
- Not UV resistant — embrittles outdoors
- Poor acid resistance
- Warps during machining if not supported properly
- Not food safe without certified food-grade grade
- Expensive for block stock
Best For
- Precision gears|Plain bearings and bushings|Wear strips and slide rails|Sprockets and pulleys|Cam followers|Rollers and conveyor components|Food-grade certified machined parts (food-grade Nylon only)
Avoid For
- Outdoor UV exposure|Acidic environments|Wet environments (dimensional change)|Applications requiring zero moisture absorption|Food contact without food-grade certification
Storage
CRITICAL: Store in dry environment with desiccant. Dry at 80°C for 4h before precision machining. Allow to equilibrate at operating humidity before final measurement. Dimensional tolerance must account for equilibrium moisture content.
