PVC Sheet (Rigid)
Generic / House Brand
⬡ Chemical Resistant
Overview
Rigid unplasticized PVC (uPVC/RPVC) sheet — one of the most chemically resistant commodity plastics. Self-extinguishing and electrically insulating. CRITICAL: Never laser cut — releases toxic hydrogen chloride gas. Machine only — use carbide tooling with air blast cooling.

Pros
- Excellent chemical resistance to acids and alkalis
- Self-extinguishing (UL94 V-0 grades)
- Low cost
- Good machinability with carbide
- Easily bonded with solvent cement
- Good electrical insulation
- Wide color and texture selection
Cons
- NEVER laser cut — releases toxic HCl gas
- Brittle at low temperatures (<0°C)
- UV degrades unless UV-stabilized grade
- Environmental concerns — chlorine content
- Not for food contact (base formulation)
- Low heat resistance (softens at 60-80°C)
Best For
- Chemical storage tanks and ducts|Electrical junction boxes and cable trays|Laboratory equipment|Signage and display boards|Plumbing fittings|Wastewater treatment equipment
Avoid For
- LASER CUTTING (TOXIC HCl FUMES — NO EXCEPTIONS)|Food contact|High-temperature applications|Outdoor without UV-stabilized grade|Cold environments below 0°C
Storage
Store at room temperature. Keep away from heat sources (softens at 60°C). Never cut with laser or heat tools that generate smoke — HCl gas is toxic and corrosive. Use mechanical cutting only. Ventilate when machining.
