Building a T-Track Clamping System for the Wolfpawn The stock Wolfpawn has limited built-in workholding. Adding T-tracks to the spoilboard gives you proper, flexible clamping for any workpiece size. What You Need T-track aluminum extrusion — 15mm or 19mm slot, cut to length (~400mm) T-track clamps (step clamps) — adjustable height to match material thickness T-nuts and M5 bolts — to mount track to spoilboard MDF or HDPE for spoilboard replacement Layout Two tracks running parallel to the X axis give the most flexibility: Space them ~120mm apart (allows clamping most common stock widths) Mount flush to the spoilboard surface — they shouldn't protrude above work surface Alternatively: run tracks at the front and back, or all four for maximum flexibility. Installation 1. Route grooves in MDF spoilboard to seat the T-track flush - Use CNC to cut precise groove: exact track width + 0.1mm clearance, depth = track height 2. Bolt tracks into grooves from below (countersunk into spoilboard underside) 3. Or use construction adhesive + screws from top if routing is too complex 4. Resurface spoilboard after installation Using T-Track Clamps Step clamps work by hooking one end under the workpiece and the other into the T-track: Loosen the T-nut, slide clamp to position Adjust step height to match material thickness Tighten — the clamp pivots down onto the workpiece Use at least 4 clamps on a full sheet, 2 minimum on smaller pieces. Clamping Outside the Cut Path Critical rule: clamps must never be in the toolpath. In Aspire, enable Clamp Safe Height or manually verify clamp positions against your toolpath simulation.
