Second Surface Etching on Acrylic for Industrial Interfaces
The Principle
For durable labels and control panels, the markings must be protected from physical wear. 'Second Surface' etching mirrors the design and engraves the back of the clear panel, leaving the front surface smooth.
Workflow
1. In LightBurn, select your design and click 'Mirror Horizontal.' 2. Etch the design on the reverse side of the acrylic using standard engraving settings. 3. (Optional) For high-contrast labeling (e.g., on a 1C3D controller housing), fill the engraved cavity with acrylic paint before mounting. When viewed from the front, the marking is sharp and sealed behind the acrylic.
