Glass Bed
Overview
Borosilicate glass is the stock bed surface on many FDM 3D printers. It offers an extremely flat, rigid, and thermally stable platform that produces a mirror-smooth bottom surface on prints. Glass beds work well for PLA, PETG, and ABS when used with adhesives like glue stick or hairspray. Prints release cleanly once the bed cools due to thermal contraction. Glass is chemically inert, easy to clean, and highly durable. Available as plain glass, tempered glass, or glass with specialized coatings like carborundum or textured finishes.
