Overview
Spring-steel sheet with PEI coating (smooth or textured) that attaches magnetically to a base magnet sheet on the heated bed. Prints release by flexing the sheet — no tools, no prying. Industry standard on modern printers. Most Bambu, Prusa, Creality, and Voron printers ship with this system.

Pros
- Flex to release — no spatula, no prying, no part damage
- Magnetic attachment is quick and secure
- Swappable — have multiple plates for different materials
- Textured side gives textured bottom finish; smooth side gives smooth
- PEI coating outlasts plain PEI sheets
- Works for PLA, PETG, TPU, and more
Cons
- Neodymium magnets weaken above 100°C — not for ABS/PC (use PC-specific bed)
- May warp with repeated high-temp cycles
- Can interfere with inductive Z-probe (probe measures at magnetic sheet, not surface)
- Requires magnetic base sheet installation
- Surface coating wears eventually — needs replacement
Best For
- PLA|PETG (with light glue stick)|TPU flexible filaments|Daily production printing|Any printer with PEI magnetic system|Quick material changes between prints
Avoid For
- ABS at 100°C+ bed (demagnetizes base)|PC and PA (same issue)|Printers without magnetic bed base|Very high-temp printing
Storage
Keep flat when stored — don't fold or crease. Clean with IPA before each session. Store at room temperature. Magnets weaken with repeated heat cycling above 80°C — replace base magnet if adhesion decreases.
