Same as PLA. Silk PLA is slightly more moisture-sensitive than standard — dry 4h @ 45°C.
Laser Compatibility
LASER INTERACTION
Safety: SAFE — silk PLA uses polyester or similar slip agents, generally inert.
CO2 engrave: 350-450mm/s @ 12-16% — shiny surface reflects some laser energy
Diode 20W engrave: 3500mm/min @ 30% — reflective surface requires more power than matte PLA
Result: High contrast marks possible but reflective surface absorbs less energy. Metallic/iridescent colors give beautiful results with careful settings.
Fumes: Similar to PLA. Silk additives vary — ventilate normally.
Tips: The reflective surface can cause inconsistent marks. Run test grid first. Results are dramatic when dialed in — the contrast between charred mark and metallic sheen is striking.
