Safely Cleaning Laser Lenses and Mirrors
The Cost of Dirty Optics
Smoke and debris land on mirrors and lenses, absorbing laser energy. If not cleaned, this residue gets burned into the coating, causing permanent damage and severely reducing power output.
Cleaning Procedure
1. Safety: Turn off the laser and let the components cool. 2. Use a blower bulb to remove loose dust. 3. Apply a single drop of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (or specialized lens cleaner) to a lint-free swab (like a specialized cleaning wipe). Never use a standard cotton q-tip or Windex. 4. Gently wipe the lens surface in a spiral pattern, working from the center outward. 5. Inspect under light for streaks and ensure it is dry before powering up.
