Workshop: Creating a French Cleat Wall
Building a French Cleat Storage System French cleats are the most versatile way to organize a workshop, allowing you to move tool holders anywhere on the wall. 1. Rip the Cleats Set your table saw to 45 degrees. Rip 3/4" plywood into 3-inch strips. One half is the 'wall' side, the other is the 'holder' side. 2. Install Wall Rails Mount the strips to your wall studs (beveled side facing UP and OUT). Use a level to ensure they are perfectly horizontal. 3. Build Holders Attach a corresponding 45-degree strip to the back of any tool holder (beveled side facing DOWN and IN). 4. Usage The holder hooks over the wall rail and is held securely by gravity. No screws required for re-organizing.
