Dialing In ACE Pro Filament Tension to Prevent Feed Failures The ACE Pro hub feeds up to 4 filaments. When tension is wrong you get grinding, slipping, or mid-print jams. Here's how to get it dialed. Symptoms of Wrong Tension Too loose: Filament slips, under-extrusion, fails to load Too tight: Grinding noise, filament dust at feeder, motor skipping Inconsistent: Color swaps miss, purge tower has gaps Setting Tension Correctly 1. Open the ACE Pro hub — lift the top cover 2. Each channel has a tension arm/lever. Find the adjustment screw. 3. Start loose — back off the screw until you can pull filament through with light resistance 4. Load filament through that channel all the way to the extruder 5. Perform a manual extrude of 50mm at 30mm/s 6. Watch for: smooth pull, no slipping sounds, consistent extrusion 7. Tighten one quarter turn at a time until you feel solid grip 8. Test with a 100mm extrude — it should be smooth with no grinding Testing All 4 Channels Run an extrude test on each channel individually: 100mm @ 30mm/s — should complete smoothly No grinding, no skipping motor sounds No filament dust at the hub entry point Common Fixes Maintenance Tips Wipe filament entry points monthly with dry cloth If grinding occurred, check for debris in the gear teeth Brittle filament (old PLA) breaks inside the path — use fresh spools PETG and TPU need slightly looser tension than PLA
