How to Change the Nozzle on the Anycubic Kobra 3
The Kobra 3 uses a standard MK8-style nozzle with M6 thread and 6mm hex. Changing nozzles is straightforward but requires the right technique to avoid stripping threads or creating leaks.
When to Change the Nozzle
- Clogged beyond clearing: Cold pulls aren't recovering extrusion
- Switching to abrasive filaments: Carbon fiber, glow-in-the-dark, or metal-fill requires hardened steel
- Diameter change: Moving between 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, or 0.8 mm
- Wear: Brass nozzles wear after 1–3 kg of standard filament
Nozzle Compatibility
The Kobra 3 V2 uses the standard Creality-style MK8 threaded nozzle (M6×1.0, 12.5 mm long). Any MK8 nozzle works. Hardened steel nozzles are drop-in compatible.
Step-by-Step
1. Heat the Hotend
Heat to 250°C — this softens any filament in the threads. Never remove a cold nozzle.
2. Retract Filament
Manually retract 100 mm of filament so the melt zone is clear.
3. Remove the Silicone Sock
Slide the silicone sock off the heater block carefully.
4. Hold the Heater Block
Use pliers or a 16mm wrench on the heater block to counter-hold. Without this, you'll twist the thermistor and heater wires.
5. Unscrew the Nozzle
Turn counter-clockwise. Remove completely.
6. Install New Nozzle
Thread in by hand until seated, then back off 1/4 turn (gap closes when torqued against heatbreak).
7. Torque Against Heatbreak
At temperature, snug the nozzle against the heatbreak — approximately 1.5–2 N·m.
8. After Changing
- Re-run bed leveling (Z-offset may shift)
- Do a cold pull to verify no debris
- Update your slicer nozzle size if changed diameter
