Laser Engraving Slate Coasters

Slate is one of the easiest 'premium' materials to engrave because the laser naturally turns the dark stone bright white.
1. Surface Prep
Wash the slate with soap and water. Let it dry. Do not use oils or sealants before engraving.
2. Settings (10W Diode)
- Speed: 2500mm/min
- Power: 70%
- DPI: 300
3. Focus
Slate has a rough, uneven surface. Set your focus based on the average height of the piece to ensure consistency.
4. Finishing
After engraving, wipe away the white dust. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil to the dark areas to make the white engraving 'pop' and add water resistance.
