Focus Slate has a rough, uneven surface. Set your focus based on the average height of the piece to ensure consistency. 4. Finishing After engraving, wipe away the white dust. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil to the dark areas to make the white engraving 'pop' and add water resistance.
